The highly anticipated sci-fi epic from legendary writer/director James Cameron is probably the most anticipated blockbuster Hollywood has seen in a while. I, myself, have waited no less than 5 years for what will decide Cameron as the “god of Hollywood” if he hadn’t already done that with his last major feature TITANIC (Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet) which broke too many records in the old book of Tinseltown. That’s another story.
AVATAR stars Sam Worthington (Terminator Salvation), Zoe Saldana (Star Trek), Giovanni Ribisi, Sigourney Weaver and many significant others.
Cameron initially tried to film Avatar many years ago but ceased production for lack of technology to shoot this visually stunning adventure, not because he didn’t have access to this technology, but because the technology did not even exist at the time. That didn’t hold back Cameron much. He went on with his team of technological masterminds to create (yes, create) the necessary technology to bring our blue friend above to life. And by to life, I mean just that. For the first time CGI will make you almost believe the character is breathing. You know a man is a perfectionist when he spends an extra $100 million to ensure that when his animated characters look at you, you feel the urge of politeness to look away. (suck it Lucas)
I guess what I’m trying to say, my friends, is that this here isn’t Toy Story.
I don’t really have to be a precog or nuclear physicist to predict that this movie may not only be the highest grossing film of 2009, but that perhaps we are looking at TITANIC get beat down from first position. Don’t quote me though… you dogs. Lol.
